Counting to 20 and Finding One More or One Less
Today we will practice counting to 20 and learn how to find the number that comes just before or just after!
Numbers are like a friendly staircase — each step takes you one higher! We can count all the way from 1 to 20, and every number has a special neighbour on each side.
When we find one more than a number, we take one step UP the staircase. For example, one more than 7 is 8. Easy, right? 🎉
When we find one less than a number, we take one step DOWN the staircase. For example, one less than 10 is 9. You are doing so well!
Let's practise together. Imagine 5 little ducks in a pond. One more duck jumps in — now there are 6 ducks! Then one duck swims away — now there are 5 ducks again. You can do this with anything you love: apples, stars, or even dinosaurs! 🦕
