My Community: People and Places That Help Us
Learn about the helpers and special places in your community that make your neighborhood a wonderful place to live!
A community is a group of people who live and work near each other. Your neighborhood, town, or city is your community! Communities have lots of special places like schools, libraries, fire stations, and parks where people come together.
Every community has helpers β people whose jobs are to take care of everyone. Firefighters keep us safe from fires. Doctors and nurses help us feel better when we are sick. Teachers help us learn new things every day. Mail carriers bring letters and packages to our homes.
Communities also have important buildings and places. A library is a place where you can borrow books for free. A grocery store is where families buy food. A hospital is where doctors help people who are very sick. A park is a place where everyone can play and enjoy nature.
We can all be good community members too! We can pick up litter, be kind to our neighbors, and follow rules that help keep everyone safe and happy. When we work together, our community becomes an even better place for everyone! π
